Catalyst served two main users:

• Traders, who needed reliable and cost-effective access to assets across chains

• Liquidity providers, who needed clear and safe ways to deposit and manage funds across multiple networks

While swaps followed familiar DeFi patterns, liquidity deposits and withdrawals involved many approvals, chain switches, and transaction steps. The risk wasn’t just complexity — it was loss of trust. If users didn’t understand what was happening, they would abandon flows or hesitate to commit capital. The core design challenge was not removing complexity, but making unavoidable complexity transparent, understandable, and recoverable.
